Magic Valley AWARE
Healthy Choices, Brighter Tomorrows
The AWARE curriculum is a proactive approach helping young teens (middle school age) with healthy relationship skills.
The ILLUSIONS curriculum educates older teens (freshman and sophomores) on the dangers of Internet pornography and reinforces the AWARE message of healthy relationships.
CHOSEN: A curriculum for seniors in high school designed to inform and warn young people, about to graduate, regarding the deliberate targeting behaviors of human traffickers in the United States.
All three presentations are designed for classroom or small youth group power-point presentations. Usually taught over the course of two days for approximately 1-hour sessions.
Marcie Scarrow, MS, LPC is a mental health professional in Twin Falls, Idaho since 2010. She trained with the original SHARE Program of Seattle and the AWARE organization in Vancouver, Washington in the mid 1990's; she worked with youth in southwest Washington for approximately 13 years as a volunteer speaker. Marcie estimates that roughly 100,000 teens heard AWARE's healthy relationship message during that time. ILLUSIONS and the anti-human trafficking message developed from concerns raised by citizens and parents to help young people be more accurately informed about the realities and impacts of these modern-day issues.
